Cranberry Pudding

1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/3 cup boiling water
1/2 cup dark unsulphured molasses
2 cups whole cranberries
1/2 cup walnuts -- chopped
Sauce:
1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
PUDDING: Dissolve soda in boiling water; Stir into flour, salt and molasses; blend. Fold in cranberries & nuts; Pour into greased bake pan & cover (can use coffee can covered w/tin foil); Pour 1/2 cup water into crock pot & steam on high 3 to 4 hrs.
BUTTER SAUCE: Mix all ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.
Spoon over pudding slices when serving. Note: The sweet butter sauce is a great compliment to the tart taste of the pudding.
