Walnut Sour Cream Cake

2 cups sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tabls. soft margarine or butter
1-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/2 cups sour cream
2 eggs
1/2 tsp black walnut flavoring
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add sour cream, mixing well. Beat in the eggs and flavoring. Add the dry ingredients and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
Pour into greased and floured cake pans. Bake 30-35 minutes, or until cake tester inserted into cake comes out clean.
FROSTING:
Melt 1/4 cup margarine or butter in a saucepan. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar, cook over medium heat stirring constantly for about 2 minutes.
Add 1/4 cup evaporated milk or cream, Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 1/4 tsp. walnut flavoringand blend in 3 cups powdered sugar, or enough to make a spreading consistency. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts
