1/2 cup shortening
1-1/3 cups sugar
2 eggs
2-1/4 cups flour
3 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 cup pumpkin
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp. soda
Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.Add to the creamed mixture. Mix pumpkin, milk, and soda. Add to creamed mixture.Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
