Peanut Butter Cake

1/3 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cup flour
1/2 tsp.salt
2-1/2 tsp. baking powder
Cream shortening brown sugar and peanut butter together until creamy,about 1 1/2 minutes. Add eggs, beat 1 minute more. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add dry ingredients alternately to first mixture with 1 cup milk and vanilla. Pour mixture into pans and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup milk or cream
1/4 cup cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup peanut butter
4 cups powdered sugar
Combine butter, milk, and cocoa in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth.
