3/4 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
3 beaten egg yolks
2-1/4 cups cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3-1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup cold water
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tbl. grated orange rind
3 stiff beaten egg whites
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolks and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with water, orange juice, and rind. Fold in egg whites.
Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans, at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
FROSTING:
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
3 tbl. orange juice
Beat til frosting reaches a spreading consistency, may add more powdered sugar
