2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup butter
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1-1/2 oz. melted, semi-sweet chocolate, or 1/3 cup baking cocoa
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 13 by 9 inch baking pan.
In a mixing bowl beat butter for 30 seconds. Add sugar and vanilla; beat till fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add dry mixture and milk alternately to beaten mixture, beating on low speed after each addition just till combined. Transfer 1-1/2 cups of the batter to another bowl. Stir in melted chocolate, or the 1/3 cup cocoa.
Pour light batter into prepared pan. Spoon chocolate batter on the top. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes.
