Georgia Ginger Cake

2-1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp.nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
3/4 cups water
3/4 cup oil
3/4 cup molasses
2 eggs
Blend all cake ingredients in a large bowl for 3-4 minutes.
Pour into a generously greased and floured 12 inch tube pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
SAUCE:
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup water
Heat ingredients in a pan until butter melts.
Poke deep holes in the hot cake, pour sauce carefully on the cake.
Let stand 15-20 minutes, invert into serving plate.
Good served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
