Cherry Chip Cake

3 cups flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
3/4 cup butter
1-1/2 tsps. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1-1/4 cups chopped maraschino cherries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease well a 12 inch bundt or tube pan, lightly dust with flour.
Blend all ingredients, except cherries, in a large bowl until well blended, about 3 minutes. Fold in cherries. Pour batter into pan.
Bake for 40-50 minutes.
Chocolate Cherry Frosting:
Bring just to boiling point 1/4 cup cream and 2 tbl. butter. Remove from heat. Add 2 cups sifted powdered sugar. Blend in 1 square (1 Oz.)Chocolate, melted and cooled, 1/2 tsp. vanilla and a pinch of salt. Beat until thick enough to spread. Add a few drops of cherry juice.
