Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup crisco
1 tbl. milk
3 tbl. boiling water
2 unbeaten egg yolks
2 tsp. lemon rind
1 tsp. vanilla
Sift together the flour, salt and sugar. Combine the butter, Crisco, milk and boiling water. Beat until well blended. Add the egg yolks, lemon rind and vanilla; beat thoroughly. Stir in the dry ingredients to form a dough. Roll out on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 400* for 6-9 minutes until light golden brown.
