French Almond Meringues

1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup blanched almonds, finely chopped
Melt chocolate pieces over hot, not boiling water. Remove from the heat and cool about 5 minutes. Combine the egg whites and vanilla; beat until stiff but not dry. Gradually add the sugar and beat until very stiff. Fold in chopped almonds and cooled melted chocolate. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes.
