1 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. powdered ginger
1 cup chopped walnuts
One 12-ounce package chocolate chips
Confectioner's sugar
Cream the butter and brown sugar, add the egg and vanilla, and beat well. Mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and sugar. Blend well. Combine the dry ingredients with the butter mixture. Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Chill for several hours. Form the dough into 1-inch balls and roll them in confectioner's sugar.
Bake at 375* on ungreased cookie sheets for 8 to 10 minutes.
