1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2-1 oz. squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1-1/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup malted milk powder
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Cream together the shortening, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Beat in the eggs. Blend in the melted chocolate. Sift together the dry ingredients; stir into the creamed mixture. Spread in greased 8 by 8 by 2 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350* for 20-25 minutes.
Malt Frosting:
2 tbl. softened butter
1/4 cup malted milk powder
dash of salt
1 oz. melted chocolate
2-3 cups powdered sugar
enough cream to make frosting of spreading consistency.
