Walnut Coconut Brownies

1-1/2 cups sifted flour
1-1/4 cups sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tbl. corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
5 oz. strained baby food prunes
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup coconut

Sift together the dry ingredients. Add the shortening, eggs, corn syrup, vanilla and prunes. Beat for 2 minutes with an electric mixer on low, or 300 strokes until smooth.
Blend in walnuts and coconut. Turn into a well greased 12 by 8 by 2 inch pan. Arrange walnut halves over the batter.
Bake at 350* for 40-45 minutes.
