Mom's Trail Cookies

3 cups sugar
2 cups shortening
1 tbl. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1-1/8 cups milk
3 cups oatmeal
2 cups raisins
2 cups nuts
7 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 (12 oz.) chocolate chips

Cream shortening, sugar, soda, salt and nutmeg. Add eggs, one at a time, raisins, nuts and chocolate chips. Add oatmeal, flour, milk, mixing by hand. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 12 dozen.
