Interesting and tasty milk drinks make it a pleasure to drink milk. Using non- fat dry milk saves space and allays fears of spoilage. Dry milk is less expensive and lower in calories too! Adding a scoop of ice cream to each serving of recipes below is a luxury on a camping trip but turns each into a frothy delight when available.
ORANGE NOG:
6 oz. can frozen orange juice
3 cups water
1 cup instant dry milk
Nutmeg (if desired)
Place thawed orange juice, dry milk, and water in mixing bowl. Mix well. Chill and serve cold with nutmeg sprinkled on top.
Blending in 1 cup of ice cream makes this a special treat.
ROOT BEER FLOAT:
2/3 cup powdered milk
1 cup ice water
1 cup chilled root beer
Vanilla ice cream
Mix instant dry milk and water. Stir. Add root beer and mix well. When available, try adding 1 scoop of ice cream to each serving.
PEANUT BUTTER MILK
2/3 cup instant dry milk
2 tsp. sugar
2 cups water
2 tbl. peanut butter
Mix dry milk and sugar with water. Stir until smooth. Add small amount of milk to peanut butter, stirring to a smooth paste. Add remainder of milk and mix well. Chill. Makes 2 servings.
