Holiday Peanut Butter & Cranberry Cookies

1/2 cup butter - softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter - smooth or crunchy
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 16 oz can jellied cranberry sauce
Heat oven to 350*.
Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a medium bowl until light and fluffy. Add peanut butter, vanilla and egg and mix well. Combine dry ingredients and add in. Mix well.
Place cranberry sauce into a small bowl and beat with a whisk until you get a nice smooth consistancy.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and press thumb into the center of each cookie to make a dent. Spoon a scant teaspoon of cranberry sauce into the indent in each cookie.
Bake for 15 minutes or until slightly firm to the touch Makes about 3 dozen.
