Raisin Bran Muffins

1/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup bran flakes
1 cup flour
1 egg
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sugar
Combine raisins, bran flakes, and milk. Let stand until mixture is moistened. Add egg and shortening and beat well. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Stir only until combined. Fill greased muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
