Jam Good Muffins

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Your favorite jam.
Cream together butter and sugar; add egg. Mix dry ingredients. Add to butter mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts if you wish. Line muffin tins with paper baking cups. Spoon about a tablespoon of batter into cups and create a "well" in the center with your spoon. Drop a tablespoon of jam into "well." Cover the jam with the remaining batter. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
