1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 cup pecans, chopped
1/2 cup raisins
In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and sugar till light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each. Dissolve the soda in a cup with the buttermilk. In a separate bowl, combine the flour with the spices and add the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake in a 350 oven for about 15 minutes or until done.
