1-1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar, divided
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup softened butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup melted butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease muffin pans.
Mix flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Beat egg and milk in a small bowl.
Beat softened butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture and egg mixture alternately. Mix after each addition. Do not overmix. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin tins.
Bake 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Remove muffins. Dip tops in melted butter, then in cinnamon sugar mixture. Place right side up, and allow to cool.
