1 pkg. yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups water
1 tablespoon butter
3 cups milk
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
2 – 3 cups raisins
enough flour to make a soft dough
Dissolve 1 teaspoon sugar in 1/2 cup of warm water. Sprinkle yeast on water and let stand for 10 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients to the yeast. Stir in enough flour to make a thick batter. Let rise until double in bulk. Drop by spoonfuls into hot, deep fat and fry until golden brown.
Cool and sprinkle with icing sugar.
