Barbecued Spareribs

1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup celery, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black peper
3 lb. ribs
1/2 cup ketchup
Melt butter in a skillet, add celery, onion, and garlic. Cook until golden brown. Add remaining ingredients except ribs. Simmer for 20 minutes. Brown ribs in a large skillet, then add sauce. Cover and simmer 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until ribs are tender.
