Baked French Doughnuts

5 tbl. butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1-1/2 cups flour
2-1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
2 tbl butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add egg; mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Fill buttered muffin tins half full. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Take out of pan immediately and dip tops into melted butter, then sugar and cinnamon mixture. Makes 12 to 14.
