Homemade Play-Dough

1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 c. water
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tbsp. cooking oil
Food coloring
Flavoring (if desired to enhance the
smell)
Mix all ingredients well, adding food coloring last. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Dough will be very stiff. Remove from heat and turn directly onto Formica counter-top. Will not stick. Knead dough a minute or so. Wrap in plastic bags or store in plastic containers. Keeps indefinitely.
