Play-Clay

Print Version |  Email To A Friend

1 c. cornstarch
2 c. baking soda
1 1/2 c. cold water

Stir cornstarch and baking soda together. Add water. Stir until smooth, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches the consistency of slightly dry mashed potatoes. Turn out onto a plate and cover with a damp cloth until cool. Then knead for a few minutes. Refrigerated, it will keep up to six weeks in a plastic bag. Sculptures made from the clay must be air-dried for two days before they can be painted. A coat of shellac will turn them into permanent shiny ornaments.
